Food Insecurity is an official term from the USDA, describing the moments when an individual doesn’t have enough to eat, and doesn’t know where their next meal will come from.
More than 44 million people in the United States, including 13 million children experience food insecurity daily…
Rockland County has one of the highest percentages of food insecurity in the state of New York outside of New York City counties. Roughly 1 in 4 Rockland County residents experience food insecurity according to a 2023 NY Department of Health report.
The Dando Project was created in 2023 by a high school student in hopes of fighting food insecurity in Rockland County and expanding this help, one town at a time.
